The
world indeed is sacred, but paradoxically, one cannot see the sacredness
of the world until one discovers that it is a divine play.
Mircea Eliade
I
met Susie Miller in Brats in Tralee to talk about her life and work, an
appropriate place where good organic food is served in a peaceful atmosphere.
What
makes you tick Susie?
Somehow I find myself passionate about the abundant earth I live on and
breathe with. Hearing the Kogi Tribe of Columbia warning us of our damaging
systems. Tribes honor life as sacred, living and conscious. We are all
intrinsically connected, one great spirit, all walk the same earth, see
the same stars, moon and sun and eat from the same table. I guess I am
truly after world peace and that starts with myself. And in the world
it has begun with new ways of running the economy from an environmental,
social and relieving poverty perspective.
Tell me about Natural R Evolution and how it came about?
I found myself interested in how the economy works after financial debt
difficulties in my own life. I wondered how this culture of debt and borrowing
came about. No-one is able to have a natural lifestyle and to live from
the fruits of heaven and earth that are free. Mostly land is privatized
and business reliant on growth, inflation and deflation manipulated by
government. I learnt that all the money in circulation (apart from 3%)
came into being by banks on the collateral of the liquid gold, oil, that
comes out of the ground. A finite resource and what we have done with
it has created climate change. I hope the Government realizes that Growth
without Limits is the way forward.. Natural R Evolution brings
people together in a circle, all equal, stories are told, the hard facts
of how our
present culture runs, new visions and practical steps are created.
What can we learn from the past?
Well, good question, Babylon began on principles of the 'common good'
and became corrupted when instead of keeping the surplus production within
the community by giving money to the Temple for their supervision of clean
water and fertile soil and taking care of the orphans and widows. That
invading Iraq for oil as America and England has done with Ireland contributing
has created shambles. The whole system favours some and weakens others.
That chemicalising and packaging nature for profit is against natural
law.
What can we expect to see on the future?
If we collectively take this opportunity to become an ethically run society.
In fact our lives depend on it! We may see One Government run with the
laws of nature and spirit, the highest good for the diverse living forms.
Communities arranging good wholesome food growing in their areas, nutrition
can prevent illness. Local currencies. The needs of a Community being
met by the land around. Basic needs are as free as the air. Not so much
produce moving around.
Thank you Susie for your enthusiasm!
Having hitched for a few months now to save on emissions, I just couldn't
emit anymore, only methane! The next step is to create a service for people
to travel with each other. I made a DVD of a talk that I arranged in Annascaul,
early last summer where Dr Colin J Campbell talked about Peak Oil, Ian
McGrigor spoke about the need for subsidising food growing and I talked
about what damage we have done by globalising and how many brilliant opportunities
there are for Communities.
