NATURE IN KERRY

Spotting whales and dolphins off the coast of Kerry.

There is a wonderful website run by the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group. There you can click on a map of Ireland and choose Kerry. Then as you move the mouse across, information pops up explaining what was spotted and when, in that area. For example if you hover the mouse over the Blasket Islands, the pop ups report that in Dec 2003, 30 dolphins were spotted together and on other dates basking sharks and a killer whale was seen. In Kenmare bay, 3 minke whale were seen together and at Brandon point, Risso dolphins have been spotted. Have a go at this excellent map yourself, simply click here to go to their website.www.iwdg.ie
